Are You the Reason for Your Lack of Success?

Have you ever noticed when playing a video game, or even working on a computer software program, that you sometimes wish it would go somewhere or do a particular task, but no matter what you do it won't do it.

Take a video game, for example. I remember playing the first Mario Brother's game on Nintendo back in the early nineties. My friends would laugh about how I would hold the controller when pushing down the "B" button for Mario to run faster and then pressing the "A" button to jump.

There was a jump at the end of a section to get a flag and then slide down the pole. My friends told me that it was possible to jump over the pole. Of all the times I tried, and tried, I still was not able to jump over the pole. However, the game was designed to jump on top of the flagpole and bring it down, not to jump over it. That is how the developers designed it. No matter what you did, or how fast you were going you could not jump over the pole. The developers basically said this is how far Mario will be able to jump.

Taking the above example of being limited by the developers of the video game, we too limit ourselves by our beliefs. And if you have limiting beliefs, no matter what you do, you will NOT be able to get past them unless you change your beliefs. You can try and try, just like I was trying to jump the flagpole on the Mario Brother's video game, but if you have limiting belief you will continue to get the same results.

So how do you change the results?

Just like the programmers would have to go back and redesign the video game codes, you have to go back and do some reprogramming yourself. What are you going to be looking for? Your beliefs!

If you believe it is hard to make money, then money WILL be hard for YOU to make. If you hold on to this belief, you will continue to find yourself in hard times trying to make money. Then you will continue to hold onto the belief that money is hard to come by. I personally believe it is extremely easy to make money. So, I continue to be amazed at how easy it is to make money, especially on the internet.

What other beliefs do you have? What beliefs do you have about starting a business, investing in real estate, starting an online business, Marriage, relationships, money, etc.

If you find yourself in the same situation over and over again, this is a good indication that you have programmed yourself by watching TV, the news, from family, friends, the media, the music you listen to, to believe in the limitation. You have a desire for money. However, you keep finding yourself having no money.

If you are tired of not living your life to the fullest by accomplishing your goals, having good relationships with your family, or spouse, not living your dreams, then you owe it to yourself to sit down and write out your beliefs, because then you will know what kind of programming you are dealing with. Once you know your beliefs, then you can go back and change the beliefs that are holding you back.

Do this by yourself, for yourself. You don't have to show anyone your beliefs. However, this is the time to be honest with yourself. This is for you! You can literally set yourself free and be as successful as you desire. But if you have been wanting to be successful for a long time and nothing has happened, then you need to be honest with yourself and say something is not right here.

Give it a shot, and see your life change.

The Causes of Hair Loss

Very few people, especially those suffering from alopecia, or balding, know that Julius Cesear and Napolean both dealt with hair loss. Yes, it's a fact; balding is part of our genetics, our history and our future. It's here to stay, for now at least. In the meantime, it's best to understand alopecia and learn about the condition so as not to feel the embarrassment usually associated with balding; it's a normal occurrence.

Male pattern hair loss, also known by the term Androgenetic Alopecia, is a genetic condition. Another, not so common fact is Androgenetic Alopecia is not just restricted to males; females also experience this type of hair loss. In the past, the general consensus was that the genes were inherited from the mother's side. However, new research is finding that it can be passed on from either mother or father.

In addition to genetics, the condition is associated with hormones and age. As a person ages, male or female, the hair follicles become more susceptible to a normal chemical reaction. The reaction occurs when testosterone is exposed to an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. The resulting product is DHT.

DHT is known for its role in male pattern balding and increased growth of ear and nose hairs. In women the levels of 5-alpha reductase are lower, thereby decreasing the amount of hair loss experienced in the head region for women.

Alopecia can be caused by other reasons as well. Chemotherapy patients usually lose their hair although many times it will eventually return. In some cases, stress will trigger hair loss. Stress may be mental, emotional or physical - the body senses a need to reserve all of its energy for survival and thus decreases hair growth which is unnecessary to staying alive. In these instances, the hair usually returns once the stress factor has been removed.

In some cases, hair loss can signal the first sign of a major disease. As such, hair loss that does not follow the normal horseshoe shape of male pattern balding should be looked at closely and followed up with a doctor or health care provider.

Site-Digest 7 Simple Steps To Place Your Site Map On Steroids

The Site Map is a too often overlooked piece of the Search engine Optimization Puzzle. Here is a Simple Step 7 step approach to create a Super Charged Site Digest on Steroids that will get your web pages indexed faster and more often.

Step 1 Use Pseudo Directory Naming Convention

A Recent Article ('See How Using a Pseudo Directory Can Increase your Page Ranking and Organize your Web Site')discussed how you could increase your Page Rank scores by using a Pseudo Directory. (http://ewguru.com/pseudo-directory).

Briefly keep all your web pages in one Directory but append a Prefix to the name so you could organize your pages like a Directory structure and still get the Page Rank Boost forhaving all your pages nearer the root.

As an Example For a Web Site about Pillows may have

'Buck' as Prefix for Buckwheat Pillows

'Fea' as a Prefix for a Feather Pillow

'Poly' as a prefix for Polyester Pillows.

Files would now be named:

    Buck-QueenSize.html

    Fea-QueenSize.html

    Poly-Queensize.html

Step 2 Keep Your Pseudo-Directories Small and Manageable.

An Efficient way to use this method is to find and republish10 to 20 articles at the same time with the same topic. Allarticles on the advantages of Buck Wheat Pillows would be named:

    buck-article1.html

    buck-article2.html

    buck-article3.html

    ....

    buck-article10.html

After 10 to 20 Articles are Published to the Web-Site a Table of contents is created as per step 3. A few days later more articles about Buck Wheat Pillows are addedand are assigned a Prefix 'buck2'. All these new pages arenow named:

    buck2-article1.html

    buck2-article2.html

    buck2-article3.html

    ....

    buck2-article10.html

A Table of Contents is Now Created for 'Buck2'

Similarly next time Articles about Buckwheat Pillows are collected 'Buck3' would be used as a Prefix.

The Main advantages of this method are:

Google will easily find and index all your new pages

Lots of Small manageable Pseudo-Directories Each with their own Table of Contents.

Your Site-Digest in Step 4 is always Fresh and Changing changing.

Step 3 Create a Table of Contents for each Pseudo Directory

So Lets say under Buckwheat you have the Following Pages

    Buck-QueenSize.html

    Buck-TravelSize.html

    Buck-NeckPillow.html

    Buck-isBetter.html

    Buck-releivespain.html

Create a Table of contents for your Buckwheat Pillows Listing only your Buckwheat Files and Call it 'Buck-Table-of-Contents.Html'. Similarly you wouldhave a Table of contents for your Polyester and Feather Pillows.

Step 4 Create a Site-Digest with all your Products

Create a File and name it Site-Digest.html and list the Buck, Poly and Feather Table of Contents Files. Of course this Site-Digest File would also contain your Mattress Table of Contents and Towel Table of contents andanything else you may sell.

A Sample Site Digest may look like this

Buck Wheat Pillows Table of Contents

    Feather Pillows Table of Contents

    Polyester Pillows Table of Contents

    Mattress Table of Contents

    ....

    Bath Shop Table of Contents

Step 5 The Google Sitemap File

You would now create a Google Sitemap file. Be sure andtell google that your Site-Digest File Changes often. Thisway google will grab this page and Index your site(http://www.ewguru.com/hbiz/googlesitemap.html)

Step 6 Step Keep Your Site-Digest Current

Every time you create a new pseudo-directory and Table ofcontents for that pseudo-directory simply add it to your Site-Digest. Now when Google grabs your Site-Digest it will Spider all your new Table of Contents and MagicallyIndex your new pages.

Step 7 Super Charge your Site- Digest

If you would like to Super Charge your Site-Digest Nameyour Hyperlinks with descriptive Keywords. Add A Summaryabout each item in your Site-Digest

Buck Wheat Pillows Table of Contents - Description

Buck Wheat Pillows Table of Contents - Link

Feather Pillows Table of Contents - Description

Feather Pillows Table of Contents - Link

Polyester Pillows Table of Contents - Description

Polyester Pillows Table of Contents - Link

Mattress Table of Contents - Description

Mattress Table of Contents - Link

    ....

Bath Shop Table of Contents - Description

Bath Shop Table of Contents - Link

By Following the above simple steps and creating a SuperCharged Site-Digest you will make it easier for Google toindex your current and all of your new Web Pages.

Constructionalist Parsing - Deciphering Natural Language

The research in the field of Natural Language Processing usually assumes the existence of a syntactic "Generative Engine" that combines words and word-like elements into syntactic structures, and then sometimes displaces them by "syntactic movement". A Linguistic Parser must "undo" all the effects of syntactic movement, which results in a structure where the relations between the words are represented more directly.

In recent years, a new theoretical framework was introduced, in which the syntactic combinatorial system does not stop at the level of the words. Instead, the same "Generative Engine" continues all-the-way-down into morphology. The various parts of the same word correspond to the different areas of the syntactic tree, and then are brought together by multiple applications of movement.

Within this Constructionalist Framework, the syntactic is not a tree of words - it is a tree made of sub-lexical elements like roots, prefixes, suffixes, etc. The components of a single verb are spread all over the parse tree.

Correspondingly, the function of a Linguistic Parser is different. The goal of the parsing is to "reconstruct" every such sub-lexical element into its original place in the syntactic tree.

By undoing the effects of syntactic movement, "Constructionalist Parsing" produces the syntactic trees where atomic constituents of every word are distributed through such a "reconstructed" syntactic tree. Every constituent is restored into its appropriate location in the tree, where the context for its semantic contribution is found in immediately adjacent locations. Deep Parsing makes it possible for all the relations between the elements in the tree to be strictly local.

The primary distinctive property of "Constructionalist Parsing" is the fact that the meaning of all the elements of a syntactic tree is determined locally.

The argument structures of all the verbs are represent by a small number of "functional elements". These "functional elements" introduce arguments and determine the semantic roles of the immediately adjacent Noun Phrases.

The state-of-art algorithms of "pattern matching" generally fail to produce good results on natural language text, before or after parsing. But when text undergoes "Constructionalist Parsing",the output is more accessible to standard "pattern matching" methods and analysis, because an appropriate representation of text is generated that is in the domain of real Computer Science.

How To Check If Cut Flowers Are Fresh

Fresh flowers should feel crisp or firm. Before you buy, run your hand under the flower heads from stem to petal tip. Proceed gently under the petals so as not to bruise them.

If the flower vendor objects, give them a withering look and enquire in a loud voice, "Are these flowers fresh?"

If the flowers feel soft, cool or damp, don't buy them.

Keep testing the other bunches until you find a good one. Often there are only one or two bunches older than the others. Look and listen. Really fresh flowers will make a soft rustling sound as you stroke them.

As flowers age:

- the foliage will start to yellow from the bottom upwards

- the stems will discolor from the bottom up as bacteria spreads from the cut

- seeds or pollen on the flower head will open and shed spores

- the petals will fade in colour, lose moisture, dehydrate and eventually collapse

Remember: It's your money and you want the best value for it. As a consumer you have a right to examine an item before you buy, and this is especially important for anything perishable.

Once you get your fresh flowers home, remember to change the water daily, recut the stems often and enjoy your flowers longer.

Miscommunication - Root Cause of Problems?

People of two opposing ideas can stir up argumentsand fights. It's that situation when one thinkshe has the right concept while the other one also believes he has the proper notion. Both of themwould try to outsmart each other until one claimsvictory.

Here's an actual example.

My girlfriend Riza would sometimes buy me signatureclothing. When my Mom founds out how much it costs, she would advise us to budget our money and just buy the affordable ones.

A problem occurs when Riza thinks that her effortto give me the best was unappreciated. Mom, onthe other hand, would think that Riza is such a spender.

There's a conflict with their beliefs. No two people are exactly alike. We are totally unique; not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

There will be many times when your opinion will notcorrespond with that of another. So how can peopleprevent this kind of conflict from occurring?

Communication is the key to overcome doubts and misunderstandings.

You should let other people know what's in your mind.Don't keep them guessing.

There was a story about two couples who were filinga divorce. After the lawyer have spoken to themboth, he found out that the root cause of all theirproblems was due to miscommunication.

Here's one of the couple's problems.

The man filing the divorce said that he just hatedthe breakfast meal that his wife often prepared forhim. On the other hand, the wife said that she'sonly preparing the meal because she thought it was her husband's favorite. But she never liked cookingit because it's very difficult to prepare.

See? If only one of them took the initiative tospeak out what's in his or her mind, then thatparticular dilemma would be over.

Now why would people prefer to keep their complaintsand criticisms to themselves? What's holding themback?

It's because they do not want to be rejected. Most, people, if not all, would like to be accepted and to be perceived as likeable in the eyes of others.

So can you get your message across without hurting their feelings?

Substitute negative statements with positive ones.

Instead of saying "You don't understand," say "Letme explain." Instead of remarking "You're wrong,"say "Permit me to clarify." Instead of stating"You failed to say," just mention "Perhaps this was not stated."

There are certain words that affect a person morenegatively in comparison with other words that havethe same meaning.

Nothing could be more pleasing to the ear than hearing someone else say that you are right. In this case, be prepared to let other people know that you respect their opinions. You may add your comments at the end, but acknowledge them first.

Say:

You're right, although ...
Great suggestion, however ...
I agree with your opinion, however ...
I would feel the same way if I were you, although ...
I understand your situation, however ...

Reassure your counterparts that the decision made willbenefit both parties. People need to feel that theyhave made the right choice.

Communication is a gift. Use it wisely for everyone'sadvantage.

Preventing Overweight and Obesity - Are You Responsible Enough?

Obesity is now assuming epidemic proportions. Worldwide there are over 1 billion overweight people and out of that more than 300 million in the obese category. With the U.S. weight loss market alone grossing over $46 Billion, and projections of 1 trillion by 2010, obesity, diet control and weight control nutrition is assuming increasing concern among health planners especially the WHO.

The fully industrialized countries account for about 80 % of the overweight with rest falling in developing countries. U.S alone accounts for whopping 150 million people in the overweight category.

Obesity and overweight puts one under the risk of various disease and disorders such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart related problems, certain types of cancer such as breast cancer, cancer of the colon and kidney etc apart from numerous problems related to respiratory and muscular systems.

Apart from these diseases, the social and financial cost of overweight and obesity is very high, affecting social, mental and financial health of this huge proportion of the world population. Loss of productivity and the attendant cost to society, low self esteem, lower quality of life adds up to immense financial burden on the individual and the governments.

There is a tremendous amount of action by various governments worldwide, NGO's and institutions like WHO in creating the right policy framework, dispense information to increase awareness and creating the right environments to combat this epidemic.

However the responsibility of fighting this menace rests with the individual as the governments can only do so much.

So what can you do to fight overweight and obesity?

1. Prevention is the Key. If you are not overweight start right now to make changes in dietary habits and lifestyle to prevent increase in your weight.

2. Monitor your weight on a weekly basis. Any increase over 2 Kg's in the permissible height/weight ratio set the alarm bells ringing.

3. Avoid high energy foods, packed foods, overcooked foods like pizzas and burgers which are high in calories but low in nutrients to prevent accumulation of fat.

4. Eat natural. Increase your intake of green and leafy vegetables and fruits which are loaded with nutrients. A salad bowl is much better than a burger if you are in a hurry and have no time for a proper meal.

5. Change in lifestyle. High stress lifestyles require more energy dense food which are high in fat. A rushed and stressed lifestyle may not be conducive to your future physical and financial health. Your high stress job may be high paying but extracting a huge future financial price and may not be worth it after all. A Balance in work and social life is a must to combat stress related gorging.

6. Designing and building in the required physical activities and exercises into your daily regime to improve metabolism and burn fat. A 40 minutes walk 5 days a week, a 3-4 day schedule in the gym, climbing a couple of floors rather than taking the escalator, planning an outdoor schedule during the weekends, cutting down on the television and taking up a hobby involving physical activities are all ways which will surprisingly keep off those pounds of flab and make you fitter. Weight control is better than weight loss which is a more painful process.

7. Keep height/weight charts, calorie count charts of food items, daily nutritional charts on your desk or somewhere you can see frequently to remind you constantly of your health objectives.

8. Reading regularly about obesity, diet control, weight management, nutrition, health and fitness, holistic living practices could be of great help. Knowledge is the fuel which sets in motion the prevention.

Finally it is important to remember that overweight and obesity are not mere physical or health problems but a major financial issue. Your future wealth and happiness depends on your levels of productivity in an increasingly competitive world. Fitness and good health is the key to financial freedom in term of your earning potential and your savings against all those huge medical bills.

Christmas and New Year Celebrations: How Significant?

I remember vividly as if it were yesterday when I was only a little boy; I looked forward to Christmas and New Year holidays with an air of relief, satisfaction and relaxation. Relief, because I had the rare chance of putting a pause to the hectic and daily school schedule; satisfaction because it was a time to show off that cloth that 'daddy' bought for me and relaxation because I would go out with my family and friends to have a nice time.

As I cracked open the hard shell of childhood and emerged into adulthood, I discovered there was more to Christmas and New Year celebrations than just frolicking, chewing the fat and having a good time. The significance of these festivities cannot be overlooked, cannot be disputed and cannot be buried into the ground.

Christmas may be a celebrated festival by Christians but its origin shows that it is more than just an ordinary celebration for Christians. Though it is believed that Jesus Christ was not given birth to on the 25th of December, this date was picked by the early Church because it was a day when pagans celebrated their god. They did this with the hope and intention of converting pagans to Christianity.

The date fixed for the commemoration of our Lord and Saviour does not really matter much, what matters is that a redeemer was borne, a rabbi who took a human form in the quest of changing humanity positively. He came so that humanity can be saved, so that sin can be wiped out, so that darkness can be totally separated from light.

Christmas is a time for somber reflection, a time to make up with the creator, a time to relive the birth of Jesus Christ of Nazareth which took place over 2000 years ago, a time to put a pause to evil and darkness and embrace good and light. It is a time to count our numerous blessings and say a big thank you to God.

January 1st, the beginning of every year is without doubt a memorable and significant day which goes to show why it is accepted and celebrated in such grand fashion.

By midnight on the eve of January 1st, shrill shouts of 'Happy New Year' could be heard in almost every nook and cranny of the world. Fire crackers go bang as happy youth throw them in midair. There is always an extraordinary chill in the heart of everyone as the clock strikes 12.00am; everyone alive is a year older or has witnessed a New Year roll in. There is always high hopes and people pray intently to God for blessing, prosperity and better health. New Year resolutions are muttered or announced publicly by those who believe in it. Old characters are quickly striped off and thrown in the dustbin while new and better characters are quickly embraced.

Calendar systems are based around major historical events and calendars have continually been altered and corrected and sometimes completely rewritten. Fortunately, stability in the alteration of calendar was reached in the year 525AD. It was conceived by a monk named Dionysiux Exiguus. The beginning of the year then was celebrated randomly, in England it was celebrated on 25th March but after the year 1752 it was moved to 1st January.

January is named after a Roman god 'Janus' who is depicted as a two-faced god as he looked in opposite directions. One face looked forward while the other one looked backwards. He is said to be 'the god of all going out and coming in to whom all places and entrance and passage, all doors and gates, were holy'. He is also depicted as carrying two keys, one of them was a silver key and the other was gold to unlock the seasonal gates of the winter and summer solstices.

Literally, this means that the month January allows us to look back on the past years we have spent on earth and forward to the future years we will spend. The question January tends to ask us is; 'how rewarding was the past years? Did we achieve anything worthwile or did we just sit down and watch it pass by us? How do we hope to approach the next year, with relaxed ease or with a burning desire to achieve more and better things?'

Only a fool would be content with what they have. If we think we have done enough, what have we given to the poverty-stricken people in our world? What contributions have we made to alleviate the sufferings of so many orphaned children? How about the disabled among us, what is their fate?

These are food for our thought, let us reflect on them and do the right thing.

What Students and Parents MUST Know about Student Loans

A student loan helps you get through college. Then youcome out into a high-paying career. It's a greatinvestment in your (or your sons/daughters) future.

Student loans generally give you a good deal. You getbelow-market interest rates, and you get a $2500 federaltax credit on interest paid over any period of time(previously first 60 months only)

It doesn't matter if the student, or parent takes out theloan; tax deduction remains the same.

* Did you know the federal government has a $50 billionstudent loan program ?

Not surprisingly, the federal government provides thelargest percentage of student loans. Other student loansmay come direct from colleges, private lenders or stategovernments.

One of the key advantages to a federal guaranteed loan isexactly that - it's guaranteed. That means you don't needcollateral. It also means the terms are kinder than atypical lender might offer. Of course, your educationalprogram has to be approved by the government.

Types of student loans

* Federal Stafford Loan - for undergraduate or graduatestudents

A popular and cost-effective source of a student loan.Stafford loans provide low-interest, government guaranteedfunds.

Stafford Loans come in two types, subsidized orunsubsidized. Whether or not you're eligible forsubsidized depends on household income. The school ought toadvise on this.

For subsidized, the government covers the interest right upto start of repayment i.e. they pay interest incurredduring the course, in deferment and during the grace periodbefore repayment begins. If you qualify for subsidized,it's a great deal

For unsubsidized, the student must pay all interestincurred at all times, though they don't start repayinguntil after grace period.

* Federal PLUS Loan - for parents of undergraduates

Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) allowsparents to take a loan on their Childs behalf. They cancontribute to their Childs future, and get a great low-interest loan with continuing future tax relief.

PLUS actually allows parents to borrow the total cost oftheir child's education, minus any grants or otherfinancial aid awarded. All tuition fees, meals, books, transport etc. can be included in the loan.

This really is a great deal, and has no income or assetrequirements. Even poor credit history may be overcome.Repayment is flexible, and can include zero payments for upto 4 years.

Only one drawback to the Federal Stafford and Federal Plusloan - your school must be approved to participate in theseprograms. If your school isn't approved, then you've gotsome other options...

* Banks

Many banks offer unsubsidized Stafford loans. You stillget the money, which you must have to attend college, butrepayment options are more limited. Some deals offer youan interest rate reduction if you make payments on time.

* State Loans

Most states offer guaranteed student loans. Apply directto Banks, who'll administer the State program. It'susually a more expensive way to borrow than Stafford.

* College Board Extra Credit Loan

Administered by your college. Can be expensive, and bestused only in an emergency e.g. your aid is withdrawn.

* Other Loan Sources

A number of other sources may be worth trying if you get aproblem with your first choice lenders. AcademicManagement Services affiliates with approx. 2000 schools.AMS pay your tuition fees if you repay them in less than ayear. College Resource Center also has loans available.

If your parent served in the military, then a military loanshould be investigated.

College can be the experience of a lifetime. A childstarts college as a high school kid, and emerges a fullgrown adult with high-earning potential?

But he or she needs money to survive and thrive in college. This article looked at the main sources of student loanfunding, and those sources should be ideal for moststudents and their parents.

Ten Ways To Become Your Teenagers Best Friend

Best friends! It may seem impossible to believe, but today's teens do want to consider their parents as friends, even though they think we could never understand the realities of their world. They are also interested in what it was like being a teenager during the Stone Age. Life without cell phones or the Internet must have been unimaginable!

So even with this interest, can parents and teens really become best friends when competing with busy schedules, and raging hormones? The answer is a resounding YES?and it is worth the effort!

What is important to understand is that both of you have to want the new relationship on a long-term basis. You cannot appear to be going through the motions, or acting like you are fitting this new relationship into your busy schedules.

As a father, I knew I was a good provider. I put food on the table, a roof over my teen's head, and helped fund those great sales that saved me so much money.

As important as the father role is, it was improving the "Dad" role that allowed me to develop a lasting relationship with my daughter. This also helped me with my two stepsons. Essentially, I modified the communication and problem-solving skills that I successfully used at work to improve my relationship with my teens.

The following are the ten ways that will help you to become one of your teenager's best friends:

1. Define what trust meant to each of you. Agree that there will be no games or hidden agendas-just honesty-to build the trust.

2. Agree that mutual trust is earned by exhibiting consistent behavior. The amount of trust that you develop will be proportionate to the amount of freedom that they will enjoy.

3. Anything that is discussed with you must be kept in the strictest of confidence. This will help reinforce the trust.

4. Talk to them as adults while remembering that they are still kids. This allows for flexibility during those trying adolescent years.

5. Become an attentive listener. Multitasking may be necessary at work, however it will make you appear distracted when discussing something important with your teenager. Learn to focus.

6. Ask the right questions without appearing to interrogate them. It is important that they not fear coming to you to discuss what is important to them. It is equally important that they feel that you will take the time to understand what they are trying to communicate.

7. Do not judge them for their actions or ever say, "I told you so! This helps in having them continue to come to you to discuss topics, and encourages them to do things better the next time.

8. When helping them with problem solving, discuss the desired outcomes first, and what they need to do to resolve their problem. Then allow them to proactively make their own decisions based upon the facts rather than reacting to their emotions.

9. Set guidelines instead of making rules for them to follow. They should have input into the guidelines, and then be expected to follow them. They will perceive this as fair and in their best interests.

10. "Hang out" together as oppose to just spending time together. Remember that there is a difference between motion and productivity, so make your time together interactive. For example, if you go to a movie, then go for an ice cream and discuss the movie. Or play some "one on one" games or sports. Do what best friends do!

If you want to be a better parent, don't forget the child within you. All too often, we get so wrapped up in being an adult that we forget how to have fun and enjoy life. I found that by using my imagination, I rekindled my creativity, and this made me an "okay guy" for my teenagers to hang out with.

5 Simple Tips For A Better Life

How can we enjoy a better lifestyle?

'Easy' I hear you say, all you need is a few million dollars a beautiful home a happy loving family and all the time in the world to sit back relax and enjoy life's pleasures.

Well wouldn't that be a simple solution! A short trip to see the friendly bank manager and all your problems are in the past; hmmm maybe not - so on the basis that you're like me and don't expect any windfalls in the coming weeks here are 5 simple tips to improving your lifestyle.

1: Take an amount of time out for yourself everyday. As a busy Mom or Dad it's so easy to get so totally wrapped up in our responsibilities to family and friends that we neglect ourselves. Find clever ways to give yourself a little personal time, it can be as simple as a long luxurious soak in a hot bath or the peace and solitude of sitting down to your favourite novelist - the important thing is to take a little time out for yourself every single day.

2: Make a special time for your family everyday. I'm not talking about hours of deep and meaningful conversation with the whole family sat at the fireside; it's rare that any of us get time for such things! But how about making sure that everyone sits down for one meal a day together and chats about their day and its highs and low? Not forced and artificial insincere 'therapy' - that's not the idea - just a chat among family about the way the day went for them.

3: Don't worry about what hasn't happened. Paranoia seems to be pervasive in today's information rich society; we spend far too much time worrying about things that we simply have no control over - from bird flu to mad cow's disease. If you're not employed to find the cure or responsible for passing it on then there's little you can do?don't waste time worrying! 24 hour news programs can add to the feeling of being out of control in a mad world, turn the TV off or over and try not to overdose on the sea of sensationalist headlines.

4: Help with things that you can do something about. It's good to give and we all feel a little better for helping out, so maybe try a little fund raising for the local dog's home or for children in need - choose something that's dear to your heart, and remember it's not about how much or how little you can afford to give, rather it's all about making a little bit of effort for those less fortunate and it's about the feeling of self-worth that comes from helping out where ever you can in life.

5: Enjoy the simple pleasures in life. With work pressures and the strain of modern day living it's easy to miss the more simple pleasures in life. Take your family out for a picnic or for a stroll along the beach or through a country park, take a cool drink outside and watch the sunset, find the simple pleasures that make life so much more special and worth living.

The Web Hosting Industry 2005

For the "big things" to be build it was certainly needed a solid platform formed from the brochureware Web Sites connected together, that in the past ten years became suitable for e-commerce, communications and special software. That was the first decade of the Web Hosting Industry. The second decade of Web Hosting was full of applications that were finding new online platforms, with the traffic more shifted.

In short time commerce, content and communications found their home on the Web. The shopping cart is the essence of the online commerce, but now many small traders(and some large ones) are selling their wares trough other services like Amazon, Yahoo! or eBay. They are not only providing the transaction and the catalog technologies , but also they bring what is more important for commerce: the customers. On the hosted stores from Amazon, Yahoo! or eBay is instant access to millions of customers from all around the world.

The application-service-provider business model is the living example of many of these new homes that were formely hosted on one's own server.

Everything is outscored, event the function of search build on many websites. There are only a few larger sites that needs to implement their own search, others uses Google.

The email is also an outscored function, like example who dose not use Google's Gmail or Yahoo!'s Mail, were accounts are made for free and you have a whole gb for storage. Think about how many Web Hosting offers provide you with one gb per user, even for a fee?So if all of the applications are moving out of the Web hosting data center, what's a Web host to do to? What can you continue to offer your customers?

So, you see, all the applications are moving out of Web Hosting data center. And what you can do Web host?

For sure, here comes the answer: "value migrates to adjacent layers" particular for this case that value migrates to services. The Web Hosting vendors are building strong businesses to survive though time.

By the constant changing nature of the internet, the services that embrace, instead of compete with, the migration of services away from the Web Hosting data center are the most important. Clients that are helped to migrate on gmail, or other large companies like Amazon, eBay or Yahoo!, will represent the major step to a progressive Web host.

But the migration process is not easy, so you have to help your clients by offering them free toolkits and libraries in order to assist them in this whole migration process.

And that will be the future of The Web Hosting Industry.

Buying a Violin

"How do I buy a violin, (or fiddle)?"

That question has risen to the top of the fiddle FAQ list, even above "What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle?"

This is an account of how Richard Blackwell, my student, actually purchased a violin.

He had been using a good quality student violin on loan from his sister. He was ready to upgrade to a better quality violin when his sister asked for her violin to be returned.

A violin was already on its way to him from a shop in Philadelphia, when he scheduled an appointment with a violin dealer in Plant City, Florida. Royce Burt, the part-time dealer had a good inventory of instruments ranging in price from about $500 to $8000.

He has a regular job as an accountant and does this other business part-time from his home. Aubrey Haney, a prominent Nashville session fiddler, buys violins from him when he is in Tampa visiting his folks.

Richard brought me along to hear the violins with him and also to play them. Many players recommend having an other violinist (or fiddler) with you when trying out instruments. Violins often sound quite different right under the ear, as compared to a few feet away.

He also had his current instrument with him to keep the base line of comparison.

This turned out to be a very good move.

When we got there we went right into the violin room. Royce began to hand Richard violins, making just a few comments about them. I kept Richard moving from violin to violin, not getting hung up on any one instrument. Then he would circle back and retry ones he had played earlier.

In between I played them and made comments about their sound and appearance. There was one that I found really intriguing, with a certain mystery quality to its sound. I wanted to keep playing it until I solved the mystery.

At one point Richard seemed to hit an indecisive stall in the process. It was at this point that he pulled out the fiddle he's been playing. The comparison made Royce's violins stand out. He could hear the superior quality of tone immediately.

That gave him fresh encouragement as to his inclination. And he was drawn to one violin in particular. It was a truly fine instrument suitable for a professional player.

By this time it had come down to choice of two fiddles. Going back and forth settled the matter. Even though the one he chose was much more expensive, he made his decision. He knows he has a violin that won't let him down as his ability improves.

There is one thing about Florida that you should know. Land may be pricey, but moveable goods are not. Almost everything costs less here than it does up north or out west. Royce's prices are on the low end of the spectrum.

When Richard was clearly gravitating towards the one he chose, Royce reminded him of his complete satisfaction guarantee. I don't believe I would buy a violin without such a guarantee.

Richard left with a violin he really liked. He also knew that he would be receiving on trial one more instrument to compare to it. That trial violin did not displace his choice.

This is not the only way to find a better violin to play. You might know a fiddler who has more than one violin and would be ready to let one go.

In some cases you might even be able to take the violin home for a week or so.

You could find a sleeper in an estate sale. Or, even a yard sale.

When it comes to trying out violins, there are three factors from Richard's experience that are key in making a wise choice.

1. Take someone with you who can also play, as well as listen. If you can find someone knowledgeable, that's ideal.

2. Take your current instrument with you. At some point, take it out and compare it to the violin or violins you have been playing.

3. Make your evaluation in a stress free, no pressure setting.

If the dealer brings out a violin exclaiming, "I have just the violin for you!" and he proceeds to rip off a few cadenzas, then hands it to you, make a quick exit. I was with one of my students when a "respected" dealer pulled this stunt.

Noticing how echoey the room was, I asked him if he practiced in this room. He said he didn't.

You should also play the candidate violins in a room with normal acoustics. That's another aspect of stress free environment.

One last point may be: know what your budget is. Don't sell the cow to get a violin. There are more violins down the road.

Feed Those Hungry WIIFM Monsters, Get Them To Multiply

Everyone packs their website with keywords in order to feed those keyword-hungry search engines spiders.

Just do not starve your potential customers by forgetting to have the food they like:

  • ample helpings of benefits

  • tips rich in protein (practical)

  • automatic weekly feedings (like a newsletter)

If you (affectionately) look upon your potential customers as if they are WIIFM monsters, and understand how to care for and feed them, there will be no scary nightmares (unprofitable websites).

A WIIFM monster is someone that is only interested in: what is in it for them.

It would take days to describe everything you need to know about these monsters. In the end you will see that those monsters are actually cute, cuddly, likeable monsters.

Just by observing these monsters (from a safe distance) you can learn so much ...

The moment one of these monsters arrive on your website, you need to start feeding them - immediately. It is best to have many automatic feeders at your website, those monsters are hungry - they must have food, NOW.

An automatic feeder used often is an autoresponder feeder. These monsters can pick what auto-feeder they want to feed from, and start receiving food in minutes. These automatic feeders feed the monster for days, one easy-to-digest helping per day. The monster has the option to at any time stop the feeder.

I MUST warn you about something here. If you do not have a facility for the monster to stop the feeding, the monster will explode. This is NEVER a pretty sight. Humans get their websites taken away, their email privileges revoked and so on.

Another food source is eBooks. They can chew on this for days, before they come back for more. The tastier (valuable, practical content) your ebooks, the better the chance that they will come back to YOU for more. Always have a footpath (link) in the eBook that the monster can find you again in the big jungle where everyone shouts to them: feed here for free, FREE: feed here ...

There are many different types of monsters that every website must have food for, but for now I will just tell you about the WIIFM monster.

This is the biggest monster of all. If it is not fed well, feeding all the other little monsters is of no use (like the freebie monsters).

The what-is-in-it-for-me monster is also sometimes 'affectionately' called the WIIFM monster. It only wants to know what it can get from a website.

If it is clear to this monster that you have no tasty food, it leaves immediately.

This monster has a pair of very well developed eyes. It can see within 3 seconds if a website has its favourite food (WIIFM content).

These eyes are so well developed that it totally ignores banners. These eyes only go for the real tasty food (quality, practical content).

The monster also has a very, very fast click-claw. If those well-developed eyes do not see food in 3 seconds, that FAST click-claw reacts with a speed that make the speed of light seem like a snail crawl ... off goes the monster to find other more worthwhile feeding grounds.

The more favourite, favourite food you give for the WIIFM monster, the happier it gets. This causes this monster to quickly tell all its other monster buddies about this amazing source of WIIFM food. Yours.

These might be monsters, but they are not too stupid. They know that no matter how much of this WIIFM food they eat, their buddies can eat this food too, without the food ever being eaten up.

The food is not actually eaten, it is food for thought!

So, the more your feed these monsters, the friendlier they become. So friendly that they start sending you email and soon after that they start sending you money.

(Things sure have progressed tremendously since those dark ages - monsters can now send email too. That is how that spam-monster was born, but believe me, you do not want to hear THAT story ...)

To attract more of these monsters, you build a monster-habitat for them.

What they really like in such a habitat is things like ...

  • a WIIFM discussion

  • weekly fresh WIIFM food at the website

  • a weekly newsletter, also with fresh content

  • links to other worthwhile food sources

No matter to how many other WIIFM websites you send them to, they will always come back to you - if you really care about them and want to feed them.

You become a sort of a leader of the pack for them. You lead them to worthwhile food sources.

These monsters are very willing to buy food from you. If this food is tasty, they will also tell their monster buddies too. These buddies will also buy this tasty food. You will be amazed at how quickly this good news can spread. For some reason, these monsters are efficient at telling everyone very quickly if you tricked them, so be fair in all your dealings with them.

There are so many stories I want to tell you about these monsters, their different types of food sources, their enemy monsters, how to become their friends, and so on, but my time is up (for now). Time waits for no monster, not even the WIIFM monster ...

To sum up the story so far, let us listen to one of the monsters I like best:

Sumarus - he likes to eat lots of tasty food (value content) and then summarize it, oh so brilliantly ...

Sumarus (after clearing his throat):

So, to summarize (he always starts just like that)

The sole purpose of a website is to be the feeding ground of WIIFM monsters. The more WIIFM food you dish up in the form of articles, ebooks, newsletters and links to other worthwhile food sources, the more WIIFM monsters you can attract.

Your primary role is in providing tasty food to attract as many WIIFM monsters as you possibly can. The tastier your food, the more you can ask them to pay for your commercial food. If WIIFM monsters see you have no food, they leave - immediately, sometimes sooner !

WIIFM monsters HATE vomited food. They LOVE fresh food you prepared just for them.

If WIIFM monsters and website owners get to know each other very well, this can lead to lifelong, beneficial partnerships for everyone involved.

Sumarus might be too theoretical and philosophical for most humans, so this is what I think he means:

The better you can cater for the daily, practical needs of your website visitors, the better the chance that they will stay with you and continue being a newsletter subscriber.

You should only recommend other worthwhile websites.

Even if there are lots of sources of free worthwhile content, you must add value to what you give your website visitors and newsletter readers.

Initially you must provide value content up front, but will benefit from this later in the form of sales.

Sumarus also suggests that you reread this article to see how many other not-so-obvious tips you can find hidden in it.

Web Hosting in 2005 --- Finding the Niche and Cashing in!

Web Hosting in 2005 --- Finding the Niche and Cashing in!

Over this past year, web hosting has grown to be the biggest it has ever been. With more companies appearing every day, the demand for web hosting has never been higher.

In 2005, web hosting will be even bigger.

It has been estimated that 38 million people will put their very first websites online in this next year. And, by 2008, the internet sales industry will top the 120 billion dollar mark.

What does this mean for you?

Finding the right web host for your application will be easier. Quality web hosting companies will separate themselves from the rest of the industry, and unprofessional web hosting companies will suffer. Support will become the number one factor for people when choosing a web host. Traditional advertising will become less and less effective, as most people will choose a web host based on colleague's recommendations.

This is going to create a great opportunity for web hosting affiliates, and resellers. By simply referring people to hosting services, many people will be able to make full time income. They are doing it right now.

Think about it. Everyone who wants a web site needs a web hosting company to host it for them. Currently, there is no definitive hosting industry leader, and most people choose hosts based on recommendations.

If you are happy with your web host, check to see if they operate an affiliate program. Instead of paying them every month, or year, imagine them paying you? It can be as easy as putting a small "powered by" or "hosted by" link on the bottom of your page.

Why pay for web hosting if you don't have to? Why not get paid to let people know you like your web host.

Remember when choosing a web host; choose one that has fantastic customer support. Look for hosting affiliate programs, or even RESIDUAL affiliate programs, which are programs that pay you a percentage every month for a client you refer, and allow you to build a steady income.
